How does online counselling work?

Step 1: Contact us via Telephone, Text Message, Email or Click ‘Book now’ at the top right of this page.

Reach out however you prefer and let’s get you some support.

Step 2: Book your appointment and select your preferred style of telehealth.

Find a date and time that works for you – We advise choosing a time where your internet will not be under heavy load and when you will have minimal surrounding distractions. You can choose to connect with us via a Telephone call, Zoom Call or Video Call.

Step 3: An email will be sent with a meeting link

Once your appointment is booked, we will send you an email containing a meeting link for whichever video-call platform you have selected.
This will contain a hyperlink (a link to a new webpage) which you can click on; the link will take you to our private ‘Zoom’ room.

Step 4: The waiting room

On Zoom, you will be placed in a virtual “waiting room” while you wait for the host (your counsellor) to admit you to the call. Then, you will enter the call and you will be able to see and hear your counsellor (Webcam’s are optional at your discretion) and they can see and hear you once you enable your video and microphone.

FAQs

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a key part of counselling. Everything you discuss in sessions is private and protected, except in rare cases where there may be a risk of harm to yourself or others. Your therapist will explain the limits of confidentiality before your session begins.

Do I need to be in a crisis to start counselling?

Not at all. You don’t need to be in crisis to seek counselling. Many people start therapy simply to improve their mental health, work through challenges, or gain more insight into themselves. It’s about finding support when it feels right for you.

Can I do relationship counselling if my partner isn’t interested in joining?

Yes. While Relationship counselling is most effective when all partners are involved, individual therapy can still be incredibly beneficial. You can work on your personal growth, gain new tools to establish/maintain boundaries, and improve the way you handle relationship challenges and emotional turmoil.

What if i want to switch between online, in-person, or phone counselling sessions?

That's absolutely fine. We understand that your needs can change, so you’re welcome to switch between in-person, phone, or online sessions as it works best for you. There's no extra charge for changing your preferred method of counselling—we want to make it as convenient and comfortable as possible for you.
